To configure automatic author assignment, go to HighGround → Settings, then click the SEO tab.
HighGround can automatically assign an author to new posts and pages as they’re generated. This is useful for sites with multiple contributors, byline strategies, or where you want to distribute content across authors for a more natural editorial appearance.

Content Type
Toggle between Posts and Pages to set which content type these author defaults apply to.
Assignment Mode
Controls how HighGround assigns authors to new content. Four modes are available:
Do not set author - HighGround leaves the author field alone. WordPress will assign the default user, which is typically the logged-in admin account.
Assign to one user - Every new post is assigned to a single WordPress user of your choice. When this mode is selected, an Author dropdown appears below where you can select the user. This is the simplest option for solo sites or when all AI-generated content should be published under one byline.
Random user - HighGround randomly selects an author from your WordPress users for each new post. This distributes content across multiple bylines, which can make a multi-author blog feel more balanced and organic.
Map by category - Assigns a specific author based on the post’s category. This is ideal for sites where different writers cover different topics - for example, one author handles all “Marketing” posts while another covers “Development.” When this mode is selected, a mapping interface appears where you can pair each category to a specific user.
Saving
Click Save Settings to apply your changes. These settings take effect on the next post HighGround creates. Existing post author assignments are not retroactively changed.
